The Alzheimer Society of Newfoundland and Labrador is a health charity dedicated to providing help for today and hope for tomorrow though our programs and services. Our core services include awareness, education, support and research.
Awareness We launch various awareness initiatives to create awareness of the disease, of our programs and services available and of community resources. Newsletters We produce a newsletter twice a year to provide information on what’s happening around the province on Alzheimer’s disease and the activities the Society has planned. The newsletter is distributed to all health care facilities, hospitals, home care agencies and members of the Society. Healthy Brain Program We offer a health brain program that is designed to encourage individuals to practice health brain activities. To learn more about our program click here....
Education Information Packages
Resource Centres
We have established eight Resource Centres located in St. John’s, Clarenville, Gander, Corner Brook, Goose Bay, Grand Falls – Windsor, Port Hope Simpson and St. Lawrence. These centres provide the opportunity to access education on the disease and coping techniques.

Educational Sessions Our Society provides educational opportunities on Alzheimer`s disease by offering public awareness programs and by sponsoring conferences and workshops. We also organize education forums annually, and educational sessions to business and other local organizations on a monthly basis upon request. Click here for resources for physicians.
Care at Home Course
We offer a 6-8 week “work-at-your-own-pace” educational training certificate course. This course covers all aspects of Alzheimer`s disease from the nature of the disease to communication to working with families. To date approximately 1,000 people have successfully completed the course.
Support Family Support Group Meetings We offer monthly family support group meetings to assist individuals and their families learn ways to cope with their individual journey of Alzheimer’s disease. To view our meetings in your area, please view our calendar of events. Family Support Group
National Safely Home Program Through a national program, we are able to provide effective, accessible, and reliable information to police and others in the search and safe recovery of wandering persons. Safelyhome.ca
